Sushi Chef’s Sushi Class

Close to the Tokyo in Fujusawa city you can find Satsumaya Sushi restaurant.Satsumaya sushi restaurant is famous not only for delicious sushi and good service, but the special sushi master class you can take with Satsumaya’s sushi chef. Guests receive an instructional syllabus for the class. The course lasts three hours. All the sushi you make in the class can eat at the restaurant or take it home in a box.



I took this sushi making lesson and it was wonderful. My group consisted of nine people, almost all of them have been taking this class every week for more than a half year. The Atmosphere was funny and relaxed. The Sushi Chef gave a demonstration on how to prepare sushi and guided us step by step with care. We learned how to make 5 types of sushi: shrimp nigiri zushi, marinade kohada (japanese shad), cucumber and pickled daikon-rolls, kuromutu (big-eye) nigiri and gunkan nigirizushi.


We started for preparing raw fish for sushi. We used two kinds of fish: kohada (japanese shad) and kuromutsu (big-eye).

Making sushi using raw fish was most interesting. I was amazed by how the Chef made it so adroitly and skillfully.

And my one. Not too bad, but it would not hurt to take two or three more lessons.
After finished lesson I with my colleagues enjoyed eating sushi. Sushi made by myself was delicious. I was proud of my work! I got a great experience of making sushi. It was nice!

From Tokyo station you can take the JR line to Fujisawa station(藤沢駅) in 49 minutes (950 yen), then change to the private Odakyu line to Fujisawahonmachi station(藤沢本町)in 3 minutes, 120 yen. It takes 7 min on foot from station to Satsumaya sushi restaurant.
