Yokohama Stadium & China town by Jib

Yokohama Stadium

Yokohama Bay Stars - Tokyo Yakult Swallows

18.07.2011

Hello everyone. I came back to the blog again. This time I will let you see another interesting place in Kanagawa. I would like to let you to Yokohama. I went to watch a baseball match at Yokohama stadium, that day there is a Japanese Professional Baseball match between Yokohama Bay Stars and Tokyo Yakult Swallows, one of the most famous teams in Japan. I do not know much about baseball but it is a famous sport in Japan so it will be a good experience for me if I have been there sometime.

I got a train from Kawasaki station to Kannai station.

When I got out from the train station, I walked on a small street leading to the stadium. There is a street sign in front of the station. It is very easy to go to the stadium.

Walked around 2 minutes, I reached Yokohama stadium located on the other side of a street. It was surrounded by trees, at first I thought that it would be a park. But when I noticed sport lights on the top, I knew it could not be nothing except a sport stadium. Yokohama stadium is primarily used for baseball and is the home field of the Yokohama BayStars. It is also used for hosting concerts and events. I think it looks like an enormous bowl.

This is a ticket office for people to buy ticket before the game started. I got there too early, so it was still closed. I already had a ticket, it was not necessary to wait for the office. The easiest way to buy a ticket is convenience stores. You can buy an advance ticket easily without wasting your time lining up in front of the ticket office.

Near the stadium, there are many other places to go. And because I have much time before the baseball match, I decided to go to China town where is not far from the stadium (400M. from Yokohama stadium).

       Yokohama Chinatown's Gate

I took a walk in China town for a while and I saw many looking delicious Chinese food. There are over 200 restaurants for people who loves Chinese food. It is a very good place to go because you can see a different tradition or a mixed culture between Japanese and Chinese culture.

Before the baseball match started, I walked through Yokohama park and took some rest there. It is near Yokohama stadium, most people sitting and waiting for a game here before gates is opened.

There are many club souvenir shops in front of the stadium, including food and beverage shop too. People can buy their food and drink to fill up before get in the stadium. There are tables and chairs provided around the area so you can enjoy with your friends and family.

When the stadium gates was opened, people lined up for getting in the stadium. You can see how long the line was. This is not the only gate to get in.It was very amazing for me to know that how Japanese is interesting in Baseball so much.

I finally got there, inside the stadium, and waiting for the game. Because I entered there so early, there were not so much people in there. It was a good chance for me to be there earlier so I could get the best seat.

This is an atmosphere when the game was started.

Night view in Yokohama stadium

This is the first time for me to watch baseball, so I couldn't explain much more about the game because I don't know very well about its rules but I can say that the atmosphere was terrific. I love when the fans shouting players' name and singing club and player's song. It impressed me so much. So now I think should learn and understand about baseball better. As long as I've been here, in Japan, I must come here to baseball match again.
